EVERYDAY IS AN ADVENTURE

As life moves along we find ourselves juggling professional jobs, owning a home, and learning how to parent with keeping our priorities straight and living what we believe. Our idea of adventure has shifted from scaling mountains and traveling the world to realizing it is more about an expression of your heart's intention and passion for life. Adventure is the ability to think big about who you are, how you live, and what you can do in the world. In the midst of life moving at a rapid pace, here is our attempt at infusing each day, each project, and each relationship with intention, focus, and humor. Let's see how it goes...

That Kind of Father

Soon after Bloom was born, Heath and I were sitting around with our new little family, and Heath said, "I want to be the kind of father that kisses his son a lot". I think about that statement so often. It honestly makes me melt. I think it speaks so much to who Heath is. And yes, he IS that kind of father! He openly loves and kisses and adores his son. Both Bloom and I couldn't ask for more!

Month 9 in a Nutshell

I made this video for my parents so they could watch it while they are in India. I know this trip will be quite difficult for them, and I wanted them to take a little piece of home. This is a good summary of what my days now look like.

New Year, New Me

I cleaned out my closet yesterday, and here is the pile I am getting rid of! Yes, this is for real. This translated to 6 loads of laundry, 6 garbage bags of clothes, and 1 box of shoes. My closet it really bare for the first time in my life. With the new year I have 2 new rules for buying clothes:

1) Don't buy it unless you put it on and L-O-V-E it! (don't just buy something that is "ok" because it is cheap, and if you totally love it, buy it, no matter the price)

2) If you L-O-V-E it, only buy it if you can think of two things in your closet it will go with.

This is my strategy for having a kick ass closet...and this is only the beginning of the simplifying that will take place in 2011. Let go of the old! Done & Done.

Christmas in B Town

My new nephew, Amos Pax, was born on December 11th just in time for our visit. We loaded up and took Bloom on his first airplane ride to Bellingham, WA to visit his cousins for Christmas! Three kids and four adults in a tiny space was a real "adventure". Life as we know it is changing; we listened to a lot of crying babies, everywhere we went we had to take two cars, in restaurants we took up a lot of space (toddler, carseat, highchair), we watched cartoons instead of good movies, we went to take picture with the Grinch, and on and on....here come's the cheese...but my heart felt so full the entire time. I still can't get over the fact that my sister and I are MOMS (but the cool kind)! Everyday I had many moments of feeling deep gratitude for the family that I have...it made me feel heavy in a good way, just full. Here's some highlights:
